Government completes 30 astroturf facilities, 38 under construction – President reveals:
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that the government launched 68 astroturf projects across the country since 2017. Out of these, 30 projects have been completed and are currently in use, while 38 are at different stages of completion.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Alajo astroturf facility in Accra on Tuesday, the President emphasized that the development of sporting infrastructure was crucial to his administration's agenda, which aims to eradicate poverty through infrastructure development.
In addition to the astroturf projects, the government is also constructing ten youth resource centers of excellence to provide accessible sporting infrastructure to the youth. President Akufo-Addo commended the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey, for his dedication and commitment to completing the Alajo astroturf project and other social amenities in the Ayawaso-Central constituency. He also reiterated his commitment to ensuring the successful completion of all ongoing projects. The Alajo astroturf project was executed by Messrs Wembley Sports Construction.
